Mad Dawg Policy

01.

By Appointment Only

Since Mad Dawg works out of his home (affectionally called the Dawg House), all services are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact me between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. You can contact me by a call or text at 337-258-0661, or email me at maddawgbass@gmail.com. If you schedule by email or text, please be descriptive of the service(s) you want so I can quote you an accurate price and expected turnaround time. If you call and I do not answer, please leave a voice message as I may be working on someone else's guitar, and to ensure fast turnaround times, I will continue working on that guitar until I get to a natural stopping point. I will call you back as soon as I complete the job I'm on, usually within 30 minutes or so.

03.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

All of my work comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. When you pick up your guitar or bass, I will allow you a few minutes to examine it to make sure it's to your liking. If necessary, I will make any adjustments to get your instrument the way you like it. I guarantee setups for 30 days from the date of completion. Please understand, most guitars and basses have necks made of wood. Wood can be very sensitive to changes in temperature and especially humidity. I understand adjustments to the neck and string height can be affected by that humidity, and here in Louisiana, we are no strangers to humidity! So, if your neck moves within 30 days of completion, I will readjust it for you free of charge. Any issues not related to the service provided will not be covered by this warranty. Repairs other than setups and fretwork are guaranteed for one year.

02.

Arrival At Appointment

At the time you schedule your appointment, I will let you know what time you can drop off or pick up your guitar. I generally do drop offs and pickups at specific time(s) each day, and have everyone arrive at the same time. This allows me to maximize time working on guitars so I can continue to provide you with fast turnaround times. I want to provide you with the best quality work in the shortest time possible because I know you'll miss your guitar every minute that it's out of your hands! Whether it's drop-off or pickup, please be on time to be respectful of your fellow musicians. Please bring your guitar in a case or gig bag to keep it protected while it's in my possession. I will not be responsible for damage to an instrument that is not brought to me in a case or gig bag.

04.

Pricing

At Mad Dawg Guitar & Bass Repair, I strive to keep my prices competitive with other guitar shops in the area. My prices are usually on par with what the big chain shops charge as well as our local competitors. What sets Mad Dawg apart from them is that I put more time in giving both you and your guitar the best treatment possible. Whether you're a professional musician, hobbyist, or just a beginner, I know you will play better if your guitar is setup to play as smoothly as possible. I provide estimates based on the service requested, and I will strive to make sure the final price is as close to the estimate as possible. If I find other issues with your guitar while doing your requested service, I will contact you about the issue(s) with an estimate of the additional work required, and will only proceed with your approval.

05.

Strings

06.

Pickup

The nature of strings is that they can and sometimes will, break during setup and/or repairs. Most often, this occurs while tuning a string up to pitch. It could be a new string that is defective, it could be an old string that is worn out, or it could even be a tuning peg with a sharp corner. It is my policy that if I am doing a setup that does not include replacing the old strings with new ones, I will not be responsible for the cost of replacing the broken string(s). If I break a new string, I will replace it at my cost. The best practice is to replace your strings every time you have a setup done. Strings are usually not expensive, and if you're going to spend the money to have a professional setup done, it makes good sense that you replace the strings at that time. When you contact me for a setup, I will discuss strings and what type you like to use. I prefer that you bring the strings of your choice with you when you drop off your guitar. I only stock D'Addario 10-46's for electric guitar and D'Addario 12-53's for acoustic guitar. If you don't use either of those options, and you would like me to order the strings of your choice, please understand that it will delay completion of your service until the new strings arrive.

I will contact you by text as soon as your guitar or bass is ready. An invoice will be attached to the text with your final price. I accept cash, Paypal, Venmo, and Zelle at this time. I do not accept checks or credit cards. I strive to finish all jobs within 2 to 3 days, but for jobs other than a routine setup that require parts to be ordered, completion of the job will depend on how long it takes the required parts to arrive at my shop. When the parts arrive, I resume work on your instrument as soon as possible, and I will contact you as soon as it is complete to schedule a pickup time. Please do not just show up to pick up your instrument without a confirmed pickup time. On days when all work is complete and no pickups are scheduled, I often use that  time to run errands (pickup parts, etc.) and may not be in the shop. I would hate for you to waste a trip, so please adhere to this policy.
